House Dems Seemingly Find Their Collective Spine
This morning, the House Democrats gathered in front of the nation’s Capitol to announce they will be unified in their opposition to the Republican budget, which, at the time of this posting is being debated on the House floor.
Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who has been less-than-satisfactory in his opposition to the Trump Administration thus far, posted to BlueSky that when it comes to the Republican budget bill, the Dems are a “hard no”.
The reckless Republican budget will be debated on the House floor today. It represents the largest cut to Medicaid in American history. Children, families, seniors, hospitals and nursing homes will be devastated. House Democrats are a Hard NO.

During the first hour of debate, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) fired off a stellar speech in opposition to the GOP-led budget, saying:
"...because this is not a budget resolution. This is a blueprint for suffering. Or, as Elon Musk put it over the weekend, 'the spoils of war'. Because these guys don't care how many people they hurt, or how many families are going to suffer. It's about power and greed. And the GOP is enabling them. So we will not sit down and do it. We will not support this budget resolution, and we will not give them one single vote! And I will not be silent, because we will continue to fight!"
Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) followed, saying in part:
"Mr. Speaker, unfortunately it looks like facts and truth have absolutely no place in this administration or in this Republican party. We already knew that this administration lies like a rug. First, we heard that the United States was sending $50 Million worth of condoms to Hamas, which was a lie. Then we heard it was Ukraine that started the war, not Russia. Another lie! Then we heard the terrible plane crash here in Washington happened because of diversity programs. Also a lie. Now the gentle Lady from Indiana wants us to believe that not a single thing in the budget she's arguing for is going to hurt anyone at all. That there isn't a single tax giveaway to billionaires in their budget. But guess what, Mr. Speaker? It's simply not accurate."
If Democrats hold the line, as they say they will, then the passage of this budget will fall solely on the Republican caucus. If Republicans lose more than three votes from their own party, the budget resolution will not pass. More to come.
