This afternoon, The United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Edward R. Martin, Jr. posted an image on X (formerly Twitter). The image reads:

"As President Trumps' [sic] lawyers, we are proud to fight to protect his leadership as our President and we are vigilant in standing against entities like the AP that refuse to put America first."

As a matter of principle, I will not link out to X, so I'm including a screenshot of the image here.

A quote is set on a yellow background, posted to the X account of the U.S. Attorney in DC. It reads "As President Trumps' lawyers, we are proud to fight to protect his leadership as our President and we are vigilant in standing against entities like the AP that refuse to put America first." - Edward R. Martin, Jr. United States Attorney, District of Columbia

Aside from the unprecedented nature of the U.S. Attorney claiming they are the President's lawyer, the text of the quote has a misplaced apostrophe (it should read Trump's, not Trumps'). The illiteracy of the sycophants Trump has surrounded himself with is staggering, but not surprising. It takes a great deal of stupidity to align oneself with such a leader. When the U.S. Attorney takes the oath of office, they swear to uphold the Constitution and carry out justice on behalf of the American People, not the President.

This is just another anti-democratic statement in a series of recent offenses by Ed Martin. On February 3rd, he posted a copy of a letter sent to Elon Musk, (which you can see below) where he states that we will "pursue any and all legal action against anyone who impedes your work" in reference to DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). It's worth reiterating DOGE is not an actual department, as that would require the establishment of said office by Congress. It's likely unconstitutional.

We should all take note of what is occurring in not only the Executive, but Judicial branch at this very moment. There is a massive consolidation of authority to the Executive that we have never-before experienced as a nation. Assuming it continues at its current pace, our country will be virtually unrecognizable come Summer.
